The International School of Grenada is a private, nonprofit association. It is a coeducational day school which offers an educational program from preschool through grade 12. The School was founded in 1985. The school year comprises two semesters extending from the beginning of September to the end of January and from the end of January to mid-June.
Organization: The School is governed by a Board of Directors and is recognized by the Ministry of Education of Grenada.
Curriculum: A U.S. curriculum is followed, based on U.S. texts. Instruction is in English. Academic areas include English, math, social studies, science, French, art, music, computer, and physical education. The School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Faculty: There are 3 full-time and 2-part-time faculty members in the 1997-98 school year, including 1 U.S. citizen, 1 Grenadian, and 3 of other nationalities.
Enrollment: Enrollment at the beginning of the 1997-98 school year was 25 (PS: 7; Kdg.-grade 6: 12; and grades 7-12: 6). Of the total, 7 were U.S. citizens, 1 was a host-country national, and 17 were children of other nationalities.
Facilities: The School owns a 5-building complex. Present facilities consist of classroom buildings with 5 rooms, a bathroom/storage building, an open pavilion, and an administration/library building. The playing fields and grounds are spacious and continue to be developed.
Finances: In the 1997-98 school year, about 65 percent of the School's income derives from tuition, admission fees and capital assessment. Annual tuition rates are as follows: PS: $1,383; Kdg.-grade 6: $3,459; and grades 7-12: $3,731. There is an annual registration fee of $50 for preschool and $100 for Kdg.-grade 12. There is also a capital assessment fee of $180 per student. (All fees are quoted in U.S. dollars.)
