Colegio Internacional de Carabobo is a private, coeducational day school which offers an educational program from kindergarten through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The school year comprises 2 semesters extending from August 23 to June 7.

Organization: The School is a nonprofit entity which is controlled by a series of shares which are owned primarily by international corporations. The School is governed by a 7-member Board of Education elected annually by the shareholders. The School is administered by a director, a high school principal, and an elementary school principal.

Curriculum: The School's curriculum is that of a U.S. college-preparatory program. The central mission of the School is to maintain the highest standards for all of its students. High school electives are limited due to the scope of the School's enrollment. All courses in the elementary and secondary schools are predicated upon optimum basic development in reading, writing, computation, and thinking skills. The School is registered by the Venezuelan Ministry of Education and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Faculty: There are 53 full-time and 12 part-time faculty members in the 1999-2000 school year, including 44 U.S. citizens, 15 Venezuelans, and 6 persons of other nationalities.

Enrollment: Enrollment at the beginning of the 1999-2000 school year was 417 (Kdg. -grade 5: 251; grades 6-8: 84; and grades 9-12: 82). Of the total, 51 were U.S. citizens, 256 were host-country nationals, and 110 were children of 23 other nationalities. Of the U.S. enrollment, 43 were dependents of U.S. business and foundation employees, and 8 of religious organization employees.

Facilities: The beautiful and well-maintained landscaped 15-acre campus, located at the base of a mountainous slope overlooking the city of Valencia, is divided into a lower elementary sector (32 classrooms, a library, an auditorium, an English-as-a-Second-Language center, an art studio, physical education facilities, and administrative offices) and the upper high school sector (26 classrooms, a library/media center, a cafeteria, a sports area, and administrative offices). The 2 divisions share 2 sports fields and a covered recreational/gymnasium center.

Finances: In the 1999-2000 school year, most of the School's income derives from regular school tuition and corporate assessments. Annual corporate tuition rates are as follows: Kdg.: $11,720; grades 1-8: $14,850; and grades 9-12: $16,386. (All fees are quoted in U.S. dollars.)
