Stay-In-School Program

The Stay-In-School Program employs students so you can resume or continue your education. You need to meet financial-need criteria to qualify for the program.

You are eligible if you are a U.S. citizen, at least 16 years of age and enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student in any high school, vocational school, or baccalaureate program.

Students with a disability are eligible to participate in the program regardless of financial need.

In the Stay-In School Program, you may work part-time when school is in session and full-time during vacation periods.

You will be paid at regular Government salary rates depending on your assigned duties. And you may be promoted or rewarded based on your performance.

Approximately 40 students participate annually in the Stay-In-School Program in the State Department. We recruit candidates directly from schools or through local offices of the State Employment or Job Service.
