Enterprise Network Management
Enterprise Network Management is one of the State
Departments most important Information Technology (IT) initiatives
being currently implemented. The Enterprise Network Management
(ENM) project establishes the services and infrastructure to manage
the Departments global TCP/IP network and systems assets.
Enterprise Network Management (ENM) will be a Department-wide resource to support
domestic and overseas IT operations. Initially, ENM will focus
on devices i.e., routers, switches, servers, and PCs. Later
this year, ENM will expand to Rich Internet Access, Mainframe Operations,
and the Classified network. ENM will provide various services
to the Bureaus including management reports, real-time device status
information, second-level help desk support through integrated databases
and problem tracking resolution systems, software distribution, and
configuration and asset management tools and tracking. The Department
expects ENM to improve network reliability, customer response times,
and troubleshooting. Based on industry experience, ENM should
also help contain total costs of ownership (cost-avoidance) as the Information
Technology (IT) environment in the field becomes increasingly robust
and complex.
