President Truman changed the foreign policy of a war-weary nation, setting the country on a half-century course of international engagement. In recognition of President Truman's foreign policy achievements, President Clinton on June 20, 2000 signed legislation to name the State Department headquarters in President Truman's honor. President Clinton and Secretary of State Albright presided at a ceremony on September 22, 2000 outside the State Department's C Street headquarters to name it the "Harry S Truman Building."
