  The Advisory Committee on Labor Diplomacy was established on May 29, 1999.
The Committee is composed of a cross-section of prominent individuals from government, organized labor, and business.

The purpose of the Committee is to advise the Secretary of State and the President on the resources and policies necessary to implement labor diplomacy programs efficiently, effectively, and in a manner that ensures U.S. leadership internationally.

According to the Federal Advisory Committee Act, all federal advisory committees must have a charter on file with the standing committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives having legislative jurisdiction; with the Library of Congress; and with the Committee Management Secretariat at the General Services Administration.
