Pacific Salmon Talks Reach Agreement to Restrict Dixon Entrance Fishing Operations
Statement by James P. Rubin, Deparment Spokesman
Washington, D.C., July 2, 1998
U.S. Department of State

Blue Bar

The United States and Canada agree that during the 1998 fishing season neither country will conduct commercial salmon fishing operations in the disputed area of the Dixon Entrance; that is, those waters over which both countries claim jurisdiction. This agreement is without prejudice to the legal claim of either party in the area.

The Dixon Entrance is located at the boundary between the Alaskan panhandle and British Columbia.
