Subject: Sea Turtle Briefing
The State Department invites interested parties to a constituent briefing on various sea turtle issues to take place on April 9, 1999 from 2 pm-4 pm in Room 7835 at the Department of State. Participants should call Holly Koehler at (202) 647-1952 to provide birth date and social security number to be pre-cleared for the meeting. To join the meeting via telephone, please call Holly Koehler by noon on Wednesday April 7 for more information.
The provisional agenda for the meeting is as follows:
1. What DOS is doing and proposing to do to implement the WTO decision;
2. The status of the Inter-American Convention for the Protection and Conservation of Sea Turtles; and
3. The progress toward an Indian Ocean sea turtle agreement.Please note that proposed revisions to the Section 609 implementation guidelines were published in the Federal Register on March 25. Department of State will be happy to answer any questions about those proposed revisions as well.
