U.S. Department of State Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs Overview The United States International Telecommunication Advisory Committee (ITAC) advises the Department of State on U.S. participation in international telecommunications treaty organizations such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). ITAC aids in the preparation of U.S. positions for meetings of international treaty organizations, develops and coordinates proposed contributions to international meetings and submits them to the Department of State for consideration. Members of ITAC include representatives of government and operating agencies, as well as scientific or industrial organizations involved in the telecommunications sector. ITAC is composed of three sectors:
