Prudence Bushnell |

Ms. Prudence Bushnell was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya on July 17, 1996.[End of Document]Ms. Bushnell joined the Foreign Service in 1981 after a successful training career in the public and non-profit sectors.
Assignments in Dakar, Senegal and Bombay, India were followed by a tour at the Foriegn Service Institute directing the Department of State's Executive Development Program. She was a member of the 35th Class of the Senior Seminar before joining the Bureau of African Affairs as Deputy Assistant Secretary and later as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.
Ms. Bushnell was born in Washington, D.C. and educated in Germany, France, Pakistan, and Iran. She holds a liberal arts degree from the University of Maryland and a masters degree in Public Administration from Russel Sage College. In the course of her career she has received several honor awards. She is married to Richard A. Buckley and has five step-children.
