On May 30, the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm co-hosted its Fifth Annual Spring Economic Conference, entitled "The Enabling Power of Information and Communications Technology." Included as a featured event during Stockholm's TIME (telecommunications, IT, media, and entertainment) Week, the Conference attracted 250 Swedish and international business leaders, venture capitalists, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and international media. Co-sponsored by four organizations including the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Conference was featured in the successful TIME.Stockholm magazine and was video-streamed live to 145 viewers on the Internet. Representatives from Intel and Motorola were among the major U.S. speakers. U.S. Ambassador to Sweden Lyndon L. Olson, Jr. provided the afternoon keynote in which he discussed the importance of recognizing and narrowing the global digital divide.For more information on this conference, visit the U.S. Embassy Stockholm website.
