NEI Training Program for Kaliningrad and Belarus Entrepreneurs
Fact Sheet released by the Bureau of European Affairs,
U.S. Department of State, Washington, DC, September 28, 2000![]()
The U.S. Government will fund a continuation of the Entrepreneur Training Program for business people from Kaliningrad and Belarus during 2000-2001. A successful pilot project, developed in cooperation with the Government of Lithuania, was implemented in November 1999 by the Management Training Center (MTC) in Paneveys, Lithuania. The Center was recently selected to administer the new training program and has developed a comprehensive curriculum for its skilled instructors. Over the next year, approximately 200 participants from Kaliningrad and Belarus will be trained in business and business support topics in Paneveys. The first training course started September 25, 2000.
This program is funded under the Northern Europe Initiative (NEI). In line with NEI objectives, Lithuania has pledged to run several such courses over the next year, expanding ties with its neighboring countries. Through this program, entrepreneurs from Kaliningrad and Belarus will have the opportunity to gain knowledge in practical business principles, as well as to network with Lithuanian contacts.
