Biography
Luis J. Lauredo
At the OAS, Ambassador Lauredo works with other hemispheric leaders to strengthen democracy, advance human rights, foster economic integration and promote peace and security throughout the Western Hemisphere. As the U.S. Government's Summit of the Americas Coordinator, Ambassador Lauredo develops U.S. policy positions for the Summit and represents the U.S. in the three-country troika, which is spearheading preparations for the 2001 Summit in Quebec City, Canada. Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Lauredo had an extensive career in the private sector.
Ambassador Lauredo received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University. He also attended University of Madrid in Spain and Georgetown University Law Center. [end of document]
