1967 Fourth Annual Report Recommendations, United States Advisory Commission on International Educational and Cultural Affairs

Major Recommendations:

  • That the position of Assistant Secretary be raised to Under Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs.
  • That educational and cultural programs in western Europe be expanded.
  • That the total budget of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in the Department of State be expanded.
  • That the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii be transferred from the jurisdiction of the Department of State to the Center for Educational Cooperation in the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare under the International Education Act of 1966.
