October 13, 2019 marks the 244th Birthday of the U.S. Navy with the theme of ‘No Higher Honor.’ From our very beginnings the Founding Fathers recognized that a strong Navy was essential to our nation’s security. Since 1789 the Navy has operated alongside the Department of State to promote and project the strength and resolve of the United States. Indeed, from 1879 to 1918, the Navy and the State Department shared office space in the current-Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which was formerly the State, War, and Navy Building. DipNote»
