The school is able and willing to accommodate students with the following needs: Hearing Impaired, Physically or  Orthopedically Impaired, Visually Impaired, Autistic, Specifically Learning Disabled,  Intellectually Disabled, Behaviorally/Emotionally Disabled, Multiple disabilities, Other health impairment, Speech or Language Impaired, and Traumatic Brain Injury.  The school has Special Needs Support Services:  Teacher Accommodations, Teacher Accommodations/Learning Support Teacher, Learning Support Teacher, Co-Teaching and Team Teaching in the Classroom, Academic Support Class Secondary School, Support for Special Needs Preschoolers, Use of IEP and ILP. The school does not have a self-contained classroom. See REO for push in and pull out hours. The school has the special needs support staff: 3 nurses, 1 psychologist, 1 Special needs coordinator, 2 learning support teachers, and 4 Guidance counselors. At post the following services are available in English: Psycho-educational assessment, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, Social Skills Group/ Social Skills Therapy, US credentialed reading specialist, reading remediation, reading programs for dyslexia,(ortho gillingham, etc.) and math specialist. The school can provide: 1-on-1 aide, special transportation.


The American International School Chennai (AISC), founded in 1995, is a nonprofit, independent, coeducational day school. It offers a U.S./international-style educational program in English from the Early Years (age three) through grade 12 for American and international students who are temporary residents of India. The school year runs from early August to early June.
