The American International School of Jeddah (AISJ) is a private, community, day school, which offers an American educational program to students from prekindergarten through grade 12. American passport holders have priority admission status and make up close to 20% of the student body. AISJ serves more than 1,050 students, representing over 50 nationalities, on a single campus located 5 minutes away from the Red Sea in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The school year consists of 2 semesters, the first from early September to the end of January and the second from early February to mid-June. The 2019-2020 school year will begin in early September for students.

Organization: The American International School of Jeddah is governed by a 7-member Board of Trustees and operates under a license granted by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education. The school is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Mission: “Our mission is to inspire and facilitate learners through an authentic American education in order to nurture their passion for knowledge, so they may pursue their dreams and become successful global citizens.”

Curriculum: The U.S. curriculum follows the AERO Plus/Common Core standards. Instruction is in English, and minimum proficiency in English is required for admission. French, Arabic, and Spanish are taught as foreign languages. Student academic performance is assessed by the MAP Test (Measures of Academic Progress) as well as AP exams, SAT, PSAT, and ACT tests.

Faculty: In school year 2019-2020, there are 268 staff members from 30 different countries.

Enrollment: Enrollment for AISJ for the 2019-2020 year is 1,052 students.

Facilities: The new AISJ campus is located in Al-Muhammadiyah District on the north side of Jeddah, close to the new U.S Consulate General. The new campus is designed to meet all the requirements for a 21st-centry American learning experience and includes a full-sized shaded swimming pool, a 650-seat theater-style auditorium, libraries that total over 4,000 square meters, indoor and outdoor running tracks, fully-equipped science labs, and much more.

Finances: For the 2019-2020 school year, tuition rates are as follows: PK3 and PK4: $11,023; kindergarten: $15,244; grades 1-5: $15,739: grades 6-8: $18,603; and grades: 9-12: $22,134. Additional fees include a one-time registration fee of $3,035. Assessment and application fees are approximately $413. All fees are payable in Saudi Riyals (all fees are quoted in U.S. dollars). Special education fees will also apply (all prices exclude 5% VAT).
