The American International School of Jeddah (AISJ) is a private, community day school, which offers an American educational program to students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. American passport holders have priority admission status and make up close to 15.3% of the student body. AISJ serves more than 1,000 students, representing over 40 nationalities, on a single campus located five minutes away from the Red Sea in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The school year consists of two semesters, the first from August to the end of January and the second from early February to mid-June.
Organization: The American International School of Jeddah is governed by a seven-member board of trustees and operates under a license granted by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Education. The school is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Mission: “Our mission is to inspire and facilitate learners through an authentic American education in order to nurture their passion for knowledge, so they may pursue their dreams and become successful global citizens.”
Curriculum: The U.S. curriculum follows the AERO Plus/Common Core standards. Instruction is in English, and minimum proficiency in English is required for admission. French, Arabic, and Spanish are taught as foreign languages. Student academic performance is assessed by the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test as well as AP exams, SAT, PSAT, and ACT tests.
Faculty: In the 2022-2023 school year, AISJ has 227 total staff including 172 teachers, 54 of whom are U.S. citizens, 24 host-country nationals, and 149 third-country nationals. Our faculty and staff represent 28 nationalities, including America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, China, Spain, Portugal, Syria, Philippines, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bolivia, Germany, Mali, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Albania, Yemen, Palestine, Italy, China, and Belarus. All staff need to be certified, qualified professionals.
Enrollment: Enrollment for AISJ for the 2022-2023 year is 1,265 students. Enrollment includes 194 students from North America, 357 host-country nationals; and 714 third-country nationals.
Facilities: The new AISJ campus is located in Al-Muhammadiyah District on the north side of Jeddah, close to the new U.S Consulate General. The new campus is designed to meet all the requirements for a 21st-century American learning experience and includes a full-sized shaded swimming pool, a 650-seat theater-style auditorium, libraries that total over 4,000 square meters, indoor and outdoor running tracks, fully equipped science labs, and much more.
Finances: For the 2022-2023 school year, tuition rates are as follows: PK 2/3/4 $8,700, kindergarten $13,300, grades 1-5 $14,350, grades 6 $18,600, grades 7-8 $19,120, grades 9-10 $20,560, grades 11-12 $22,775.
