Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity 

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai hosted a virtual ministerial event to advance the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity on January 27, 2023.

In June 2022, President Biden announced the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity, or “Americas Partnership,” at the Summit of Americas in Los Angeles, California. The Americas Partnership charts a path forward to tackle economic inequality, foster regional economic integration and good jobs, and restore faith in democracy by delivering for working people across the region.

Since then, the U.S. Department of State and the Office of the U. S. Trade Representative have consulted extensively with participating governments, as well as organizational and private sector stakeholders from the region, to develop an ambitious agenda that addresses issues that are vital to the future of the hemisphere. 

On January 27, 2023, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and United States Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai co-hosted a ministerial level event to advance the Americas Partnership with representatives from the initial Western Hemisphere countries who will join them to endorse the principles and goals of the initiative.  

The Americas Partnership is a framework for regional cooperation to foster regional competitiveness, resilience, shared prosperity, and inclusive and sustainable investment. The United States, together with partner countries including Barbados, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay, are committed to sustainable development for our shared region.
