The Annex became effective upon the date on which both the Protocol on Environmental Protection entered into force and Recommendation 10 adopted by the XVIth Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting was approved by all Consultative Parties entitled to attend the XVIth Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting.
