On behalf of the United States of America, please accept my best wishes as the people of Australia commemorate Australia Day on January 26.

Our century-long mateship is an anchor for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and around the world, underpinned by shared democratic values, common interests, and cultural affinities.  We are proud of our alliance and the strength of our economic, academic, and people-to-people ties.  Last year, we reaffirmed this commitment through AUKUS, the enhanced trilateral security partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

In the face of challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change, our friendship stands steadfast and resolute.  I congratulate Australia on this occasion and wish all Australians a safe and joyous Australia Day.
