
Christiaan James serves as Director of the London Media Hub where he manages the Department’s media engagement throughout the Middle East and South Asia. He also appears regularly on pan-Arab media as the Hub’s Arabic-language spokesperson.
Before assuming his duties in London, Christiaan served as the Spokesperson for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs of the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC.
Christiaan joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 2008 and has been posted to Tunisia, China, and Yemen. He holds a master’s in Arabic literature from Harvard University and received a Fulbright scholarship to Yemen in 2005. He speaks Arabic and French fluently.
