Jennifer Johnson, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister Counselor, serves as the Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary for Management. Prior to this assignment, she was Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary and Director of the Office of Policy Coordination in the Bureau of Global Talent Management.
Since joining the Department in 2000, Jennifer has served overseas in leadership positions at U.S. Embassies and Consulates in Cuba, Chile, United Arab Emirates, and Turkey. She has held domestic positions at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York, the Office of the Undersecretary for Management, the Executive Secretariat (the Line), the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, and the Bureau of Global Talent Management.
Jennifer received a B.A. from Villanova University with a minor in Japanese and studied abroad at the University of New South Wales in Australia. She is a graduate of the National War College where she earned a M.S. in National Security Strategy focusing on cybersecurity. Jennifer was selected to participate in the Una Chapman Cox Sabbatical Leave Fellowship where she studied sustainability. She speaks Spanish, Turkish, and Japanese. Jennifer hails from the Finger Lakes Region in New York.
