Joni Scandola serves as the Acting Director for Policy, Planning, and Resources in the Office of the Under Secretary for Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy (R/PPR).
Ms. Scandola is a career member of the Foreign Service. She joined R/PPR on September 8, 2020, as the Managing Director for Resources. Prior to that, she served as Director of Global Talent Management’s Office of Performance Evaluation. Joni is a management coned Foreign Service Officer, rank of Minister Counselor. Her previous postings abroad include the Ivory Coast, Albania, Poland, Canada, Panama, and the Philippines.
In 2017, Joni received the Swanee Hunt Department Award for her work on introducing gender balance as a key diplomatic tool inside U.S. Embassies and Consulates throughout the East Asia and Pacific geographical region.
Joni studied at Rider College and American University’s School of International Service. She is fluent in French and Spanish.
