Lesley Stone is the Senior Advisor for Global Health and the Acting Managing Director for Policy.
Prior to joining F, Lesley served in USAID’s Bureau for Global Health, first in the program office where she started the journal Global Health: Science and Practice; as the Secretariat to the Global Health Initiative and the primary staffer of the Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR) working group on the State/USAID relationship; as Special Assistant to the Assistant Administrator; and as the governance specialist in the Office of Health Systems. She was an adjunct Professor of Global Health and Politics for ten years at Georgetown University. She has experience on Capitol Hill, as a Senior Legislative Assistant. In the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) sector, she led Scientists and Engineers for America as the Executive Director, working with a Board of America’s top scientists to help scientists engage in politics. There, Lesley built a first-of-its-kind coalition of scientific and engineering organizations to develop a questionnaire on science policy for the Presidential candidates, which was answered by both candidates.
As a practicing lawyer, she was a Senior Fellow at Georgetown University Law Center, teaching and writing on public health law (global and domestic); was a member of the International Trade practice at Steptoe and Johnson, LLP; and served as clerk to a federal judge.
Lesley was a Zuckerman Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government and graduated from Harvard Law School and James Madison University (BS, psychology).
