Melissa J. Kehoe's term ended on April 30, 2021.
Melissa J. Kehoe is a member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Counselor. She assumed her duties as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs in August 2020. Before taking up her current responsibilities, she served as deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Mission to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, where she helped lead U.S. efforts to negotiate global standards that spur economic growth, level the playing field for U.S. businesses and workers, foster digital development, and fight corruption.
Ms. Kehoe was also chargé d’affaires, ad interim, and deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Mission to the International Civil Aviation Organization and counselor for economic and science affairs at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. At the Department of State, she was recently director of the Office of Agricultural Policy in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs.
She has a B.A. from Cornell University and an M.S. from the Eisenhower School, National Defense University.
