Stacy Thompson assumed her duties as Deputy Assistant Secretary for House Affairs on January 29, 2023. She previously served as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for House Affairs and House Director. Prior to joining the Department of State, she was Acting Legislative Director and senior foreign policy adviser to Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), leading the Congresswoman’s work on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and overseeing the legislative policy staff. Previously, Ms. Thompson served on the legislative staff for Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and as a paralegal in the Office of Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey. Ms. Thompson received an M.A. in Security Studies from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a B.A. in Political Science from Williams College. Ms. Thompson is from Long Beach, California.
