Tressa Rae Finerty's term ended on August 1, 2022.

Tressa Rae Finerty joined the Office of the Secretary of State as Deputy Executive Secretary in April 2020. Prior to her current assignment, she was Counselor for Humanitarian Affairs at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. She has also served overseas in Kuala Lumpur, Baghdad, Yerevan, and Bangkok. Her previous domestic assignments include Political Minister-Counselor at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York and Special Assistant to the Special Representative for North Korea Policy and Six-Party Talks.

Prior to joining the Foreign Service, she was a strategy consultant. She was also a member of the New York University adjunct faculty in 2010-2011, teaching a course on international refugee frameworks. She holds a BA and MBA from The George Washington University.
