The Office of International Religious Freedom helps build the capacity of foreign affairs professionals throughout the U.S. government to effectively partner with faith-based leaders, organizations, and communities in pursuit of foreign policy goals.
We offer courses in religious literacy and faith-based actor engagement at the Foreign Service Institute, which delivers world-class diplomatic training to foreign affairs professionals from multiple U.S. government agencies.
Our Office partners with the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships to jointly train U.S. diplomats, development professionals, and local staff at U.S. embassies and consulates around the world on how to partner effectively and inclusively with faith actors in the local context.
We collaborate with the U.S. Department of Defense’s US Army Institute for Religious Leadership to train and equip military chaplains to better engage international faith-based actors in pursuit of national security goals.
