Our Ocean Conference

Our Ocean, Our Action

The Republic of Korea will host the tenth Our Ocean Conference in Busan, Republic of Korea, from April 28-30, 2025.  The 2025 Our Ocean Conference theme is “Our Ocean, Our Action.”  The conference will be organized around six Areas of Action: blue economy; sustainable fisheries; maritime security; marine pollution; climate change; and marine protected areas. The Republic of Korea has identified digital oceans as a priority cross-cutting theme.  This theme will explore how the international community is using digital technology to drive new actions to tackle major challenges facing our ocean.

At the tenth Our Ocean Conference, the international community will come together to commemorate the significant contributions the conference has made towards mobilizing ocean action and look towards future goals for global ocean ambition.

The Our Ocean Conference began in 2014 as a U.S. initiative to draw international attention to the serious threats facing the world’s ocean and to take concrete action around the globe to protect the ocean. Since 2014, the Our Ocean Conferences have generated more than 2,100 announcements worth nearly $128 billion. At the 2024 Our Ocean Conference in Athens, Greece, the United States made 57 announcements worth over $508 million.

The 2024 conference resulted in new, voluntary announcements for significant and meaningful action on some of the most complex issues facing the ocean today.

There are six broad areas of action:

Tackling the climate crisis
Advancing sustainable fisheries
Fostering sustainable blue economies
Promoting marine protected areas
Supporting maritime security
Combatting marine pollution
