The Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs (EAP) engages with partners and allies in the region to maintain peaceful and mutually beneficial relations. We promote a free and open Indo Pacific region, strengthen international resolve towards the denuclearization of North Korea, and build a constructive, results-oriented relationship with China. Stable and strong institutions in the Indo-Pacific are inseparably linked to American security and prosperity.
