I extend my heartful congratulations to the Comorian people on the forty-eighth anniversary of your independence.

This has been a watershed year in expanding our relationship with the people of Comoros. We signed a Joint Statement on Cooperation, introduced new avenues for assistance and cooperation, and Comoros hosted the visit of the highest-level U.S. official in its history. I look forward to the next chapter of our partnership as we work together on shared values such as maritime security, strengthening human rights and democratic principles, and increasing commercial ties between our nations.

We wish the best as Comorian people celebrate their independence.
