The U.S. appreciates the leadership role that Jordan plays in advancing peace and moderation in the region. The United States and Jordan share the mutual goals of a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and The U.S. deeply values its long history of cooperation and friendship with Jordan, with which it established diplomatic relations in 1949. The U.S. appreciates the leadership role that Jordan plays in advancing peace and moderation in the region. The United States and Jordan share the mutual goals of a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and an end to violent extremism that threatens the security of Jordan, the region, and the entire globe. The FTA has helped diversify the Jordanian economy while growing bilateral trade between Jordan and the United States by over 800 percent since 2000. This includes 503,100 Pfizer doses. Of the 503,100 vaccine doses, 100% were donated through bilateral agreements. The United States is committed to leading an international and coordinated effort to accelerate access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines to meet global needs. The United States is working with other governments and partners including COVAX, Caricom, and the African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) to protect communities from COVID-19 and apply lessons from this pandemic to enhance health security now and in the future.
