On behalf of the Government of the United States, I send congratulations to the people of Denmark as you celebrate the anniversary of the signing of the Danish Constitution.

The United States and the Kingdom of Denmark have enjoyed 220 years of unbroken diplomatic relations based on democratic values and mutual commitments to peace, security, and human rights around the world.  As a friend and ally, the United States appreciates Denmark’s commitment to our shared security, as demonstrated through its leadership of the NATO Mission in Iraq, its contributions to the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, and our common efforts to adapt NATO to meet current and future security challenges.  The United States looks forward to continuing our strong partnership with the Kingdom of Denmark, including Greenland and the Faroe Islands, in the Arctic Council, and other dialogues.  We also applaud Denmark’s ambition and actions to tackle the climate crisis, foster scientific collaboration, and accelerate the green transition by identifying opportunities for increased cooperation in clean energy research and development.

Thank you for the warm welcome during my recent visit to the Kingdom of Denmark, and best wishes for a joyful Constitution Day.
