Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman spoke with her Brazilian counterpart, Secretary General of Brazil’s Ministry of External Relations Ambassador Maria Laura da Rocha in a call February 22. They discussed the situation in Ukraine ahead of the one-year marker of Russia’s illegal, full-scale invasion. They also discussed the strong bilateral relationship between the United States and Brazil, including cooperation on climate, inclusive economic growth, racial equity and justice, and regional democracy. The conversation follows the productive visit by Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to Washington and meeting with President Biden on February 10.
