On November 2, 2018, the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Regional Security Office (RSO) in Baghdad held a Women’s Range Day event as part of the Federal Women’s Program, an organization that promotes career development opportunities and advancement for women in the Foreign and Civil Service.

The purpose of Range Day was to satisfy requests from women who participated in prior years and to reach out to new women on the embassy compound and educate them on the use of firearms. The Assistant Regional Security Officer (ARSO) and post manager for the Federal Women’s Program, and event volunteer staff got a big shout out from participants.

“THANK YOU to the Regional Security Officer, ARSO, and the many staff who made the Women’s Range Day a reality; I have gained a profoundly deeper respect for those who carry and use weapons as a part of their job,” said once participant..

“Thank you for conducting Women’s Range Day, it was so empowering, educational, and fun,” said another participant, “It was great seeing so many people offer up their time on a weekend to help out.”
