The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) is at the George P. Shultz National Foreign Affairs Training Center (NFATC). Many online maps label the NFATC by its historical name, Arlington Hall.

The NFATC is a secure facility. Please enter through the Main Gate on Arlington Boulevard. Upon entry, please continue on the curving asphalt road to the parking lot. You must enter through the Visitor CenterYou will need a photo ID.

The NFATC is located between Glebe Road and South George Mason Drive at:
4000 Arlington Boulevard (also known as Route 50)
Arlington, Virginia 22204

Driving Directions:
From Washington, DC, travel west on Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) and exit to the right at George Mason Drive. Turn left at the traffic light at George Mason Drive. At the next traffic light, turn left onto the small access road. Pass the National Guard Readiness Center main gate and continue on to the next right turn which is the NFATC main gate on Arlington Boulevard.

From the Beltway (495), take the 50 East exit and go about seven miles. Exit at George Mason Drive. At the top of the exit ramp, continue going straight (crossing over George Mason Drive) onto the access road. Pass the National Guard Readiness Center main gate (on your right) and continue on to the next right turn which is the NFATC main gate on Arlington Boulevard.

Parking is available for $5 per day or by permit for training that lasts longer than five days. Apply for a parking pass online.

Public Transportation:
The closest Metro station is Ballston on the Orange Line. From the Ballston Metro station, board the 22A (to Pentagon Metro) bus to the NFATC entrance on George Mason Drive. You may also board either the 10B (Hunting Towers) bus or 23A (Crystal City) bus to the intersection of South Glebe Road and Arlington Boulevard. Walk up Arlington Boulevard to the NFATC entrance along the access road.

From the Pentagon Metro station, take the 22A (to Ballston Metro) bus to the intersection of South George Mason Drive and Arlington Boulevard.

From the Rosslyn Metro station, take the 4A (Culmore) bus traveling west. At the bus stop on Arlington Boulevard take the pedestrian tunnel under the highway or walk across the overpass, enter the facility at the main gate on Arlington Boulevard.

Facilities:
The NFATC Cafeteria is open 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. weekdays. Breakfast is available 7:00 – 10:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Snacks and beverages are available during all operating hours. A Sundries Store located next to the cafeteria sells newspapers, magazines, snack foods, stamps, cards, and NFATC gift items during weekdays.

There are bicycle racks at the Visitor Center, at the entrance to Building E (Old Main), and at the southwest entrance to Building F (off the parking lot).
