On behalf of the Government of the United States, I extend congratulations to the people of Ecuador on the 210th anniversary of your country’s First Call for Independence.

As illustrated by my constructive meeting with President Lenin Moreno during my recent visit to Guayaquil, the relationship between the United States and Ecuador is stronger than ever.  We share an enduring commitment to strengthen democracy, promote prosperity, and fight transnational crime, narco-trafficking, and corruption.  The United States values Ecuador’s critical role in promoting democratic governance in the Americas and supporting displaced Venezuelans.  We look forward to strengthening our friendship while advancing mutual interests for the benefit of both our countries and the region.

Congratulations to the Ecuadorian people as you celebrate this joyful occasion and pursue ever greater aspirations for yourselves and for Ecuador.
