On behalf of the Government of the United States and the American people, I offer congratulations to the people of El Salvador on this very special 200th anniversary of your independence.

The people of the United States and El Salvador are closely connected by culture, geography, trade, and family bonds.  As part of this partnership, the United States is proud to have supported El Salvador in the fight against COVID-19 through the donation of 3 million vaccines and medical supplies.  We are also dedicated to working together to address migration and the climate crisis, combat corruption, promote human rights and inclusive economic growth, and strengthen the democratic institutions that are so vital to long term progress for the Salvadoran people.  As El Salvador marks the historic milestone of the 200th anniversary of its independence, the United States looks forward to working with the people of El Salvador to advance toward a future of prosperity, security and effective democratic governance.

The United States wishes the Salvadoran people a happy bicentennial Independence Day.
