Crisis Management – Foreign Service Evacuations, Personal Preparation, Health and Safety
GCLO provides Foreign Service employees and families with confidential guidance, referral, and assistance with personal preparedness and post evacuations.
Confidential Guidance, Referral, and Assistance
GCLO provides guidance and assistance to employees and families preparing for the possibility of a sudden departure from an overseas post. Unexpected departures can be the result of political unrest, a natural disaster, medical concerns or other personal matters.
During evacuations, GCLO is the Department’s main point of contact for evacuees, providing guidance on allowances, regulations, housing, education and employment for family members. We coordinate with post management, regional bureaus and other offices to support the evacuated community. For questions about evacuations contact us: GCLOAskEvacuations@state.gov.
