On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I offer my congratulations to the Guatemalan people as you celebrate your nation’s 198th anniversary of independence.

The enduring friendship between the United States and Guatemala is rooted in a commitment to our shared priorities. We appreciate Guatemala’s partnership in helping us address the security and humanitarian crisis at our southwestern border. I look forward to working with Guatemala to advance local and regional security, prosperity, and good governance, to combat corruption and impunity, and to disrupt transnational criminal organizations that threaten peace, security, and prosperity in Guatemala and beyond.

I thank the Guatemalan people for their friendship and support and offer my sincerest wishes for a joyous Independence Day.
