CANDIDATE: Kathryn (Kay) Bailey Hutchison

Kay Bailey Hutchison, a prominent attorney and national political leader has served since 2013 as Senior Counsel, Bracewell, LLP, Dallas, Texas, a large, long-established international law firm that specializes in energy, environmental strategies, financial institutions, financial restructuring, private investment funds, technology and white collar defense. A former U.S. Senator with extensive international experience, she gained a deep understanding of NATO as a Member of the Armed Services Committee and Chairman of Military Construction Subcommittee of Appropriations. These experiences, in addition to her service as Chairman, Board of Visitors of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, have provided Ms. Hutchison with the skills, knowledge and political acumen to make her an excellent candidate to serve as U.S. Ambassador to NATO.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Hutchinson served as U.S. Senator (1993-2013), Texas State Treasurer (1991-1993), Member, Transportation Infrastructure Commission, Washington, D.C. (1991), Of Counsel, Hutchison, Price, Boyle & Brooks, Dallas, Texas (1983-1990), Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Republic Bank Corporation, Dallas, Texas (1978-1982), Vice Chairman, National Transportation Safety Board, Washington, D.C. (1976-1978) and Texas State Representative, Houston, Texas (1973-1976).

Ms. Hutchinson earned a B.A. from the University of Texas and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law. She is the recipient of numerous national awards.
