Entered into Force December 27, 1945.

The Agreement entered into force on December 27, 1945, after being signed on behalf of governments whose minimum subscriptions comprised not less than sixty-five percent of the total subscriptions set forth in Schedule A to the Agreement and when instruments of acceptance were deposited on behalf of those governments. Membership in the Bank shall be open to members of the International Monetary Fund at such times and in accordance with such terms as may be prescribed by the Bank and after December 31, 1945, this Agreement shall be open for signature on behalf of the government of any country whose membership has been so approved. Each government on whose behalf this Agreement is signed shall deposit an instrument setting forth that it has accepted this Agreement in accordance with its law and has taken all steps necessary to enable it to carry out all of its obligations under this Agreement. Each government shall become a member of the Bank as from the date of the deposit on its behalf of the aforesaid instrument (Article II, Section 1(b); Article XI, Sections 1 and 2 (a), (b), (e), and (f)).
