Science and Technology Agreements
OES/STC facilitates American science collaboration and lays its ground rules, such as the protection of intellectual property, through nearly 60 bilateral agreements and more than 2,000 sub-agreements currently in force. The engagements facilitated by these agreements provide valuable access for American scientists to foreign scientific capabilities, facilities, and expertise, while also exposing other countries to American science procedures, norms, and values. Joint S&T Funds
OES officials serve as U.S. representatives on the governing boards for diverse bilateral science and technology funds, including for the U.S.-Israel Binational Science Foundation, U.S.-Israel Binational Industrial Research and Development Foundation, U.S.-Egypt Science and Technology Joint Fund, Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum, and U.S-India Science and Technology Endowment Fund, and the U.S.-Pakistan Science and Technology Cooperation Program. The joint funds advance shared scientific priorities and strengthen our bilateral relationships. Participation in these activities helps ensure joint research is aligned with broader American foreign policy interests.
