Kyiv International School (KIS) is a private, nonprofit, coeducational, day school, which offers an educational program from PK-grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The 2019-2020 school year is from August 22 to June 19.

Organization: Kyiv International School was founded in 1992 by Quality Schools International and is governed by their Board of Directors. An Advisory Board, composed of 6-10 members residing in Kyiv, assists the school’s operation. The school operates with the approval of the Ukrainian government.

Curriculum: The school offers a performance-based, mastery-learning, English language educational program with a curriculum similar to that of U.S. public and private schools. Instruction takes advantage of small class sizes and the diverse educational backgrounds of the students. Kyiv International School is an IB World School and offers the IB Diploma to students in grades 11 and 12. Advanced Placement classes and the AP Capstone project are offered in the secondary program. Students have a wide variety of advanced courses to choose from as they prepare for university. World languages offered at KIS include Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, French, and German. Students participate in a wide range of interscholastic and cocurricular activities.  The school is a member of the Central and Eastern European Schools Association.

Faculty: In school year 2019-2020, there are 151 qualified and experienced faculty members.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, enrollment was 770 (PK-grade 12).

Facilities: The park-like campus includes 95 classrooms, learning center, 2 sensory rooms, 3 art rooms, 3 music rooms, recording studio, 3 computer laboratories, 2 indoor gymnasiums, indoor pool, fitness center, climbing wall, cafeteria, snack café, 2 playgrounds, purpose-built track, artificial turf soccer field, artificial turf soccer mini pitch, outdoor basketball court, outdoor fitness area, other outdoor spaces, and new auditorium with a seating capacity of 350.

Finances: In the 2019-2020 school year, 90% of the school’s income derives from tuition. Annual tuition rates are as follows: PK (full-day): $10,800 and grades K-12: $19,100. The school also charges a nonrefundable annual capital fund fee of $1,600 per student for ages 5 and above. There is a one-time registration fee of $300 for new students. Bus fees are $2,000 per school year (round trip). These fees are payable in U.S. dollars. (All fees are quoted in U.S. dollars.)
