The United States is deeply concerned by a Kyrgyz court’s decision to terminate, as a media outlet, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s local outlet Azattyk, a trusted and reliable source of independent information for over 25 years. The loss of RFE/RL’s ability to operate would undermine Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov’s stated commitment to freedom of the press and free speech.  We urge an impartial and thorough judicial review of any appeal that RFE/RL may file.
