On behalf of the Government of the United States and the American people, I would like to convey my best wishes to the people of the Kyrgyz Republic as you celebrate the 28th anniversary of your independence on August 31st.

The United States was among the first nations to recognize the Kyrgyz Republic’s independence 28 years ago.  We value the Kyrgyz Republic’s shared commitment to advancing security, prosperity, and democracy in the region.  Our Annual Bilateral Consultations showcase our shared commitment to furthering the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of all Central Asian states.  The United States looks forward to finalizing a new Bilateral Cooperation Agreement with the Kyrgyz Republic and deepening our cooperation over the coming year.

I congratulate the people of the Kyrgyz Republic as you celebrate the 28th anniversary of your nation’s independence.
