The FPC Domestic Reporting Tour ‎“Landscape of Innovation: A Closer Look at Emerging Technologies in Silicon Valley” drew 20 international reporters to the Bay Area, May 6-9. With visits to major tech companies, venture capital firms investing in entrepreneurs, and a full day at Stanford University, the tour highlighted American ingenuity, talent, and the latest research and tech inventions that continue to give the United States its competitive advantage. Meetings focused on emerging technologies critical to economic growth and security, such as autonomous technologies, artificial intelligence, connected devices, augmented reality, cybersecurity, robotics, and the future of work. Briefings showcased the American model of free enterprise, innovation and rule of law – specifically how Silicon Valley is protecting intellectual property rights.  Among the highlights were visits to Twitter, the Stanford Institute for Human Centered Artificial Intelligence, Planet Labs, and the Department of Homeland Security’s Silicon Valley Innovation Program.
