CANDIDATE: Edward Thomas McMullen, Jr.
Edward Thomas McMullen, Jr., a prominent businessman and public affairs expert has served as President of McMullen Public Affairs – with offices in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and Washington, D.C. – since 2007. His company is a full service advertising and corporate public affairs firm with a proven track record of implementing successful advertising, alliance development, corporate communications, predictive data analytics, and strategic consulting solutions necessary to navigate the most challenging business and public policy environments. Clients have included several fortune 100 companies. Mr. McMullen has been appointed by South Carolina state leaders to serve on several key statewide boards and commissions and has committed himself to higher education as a Member of the Board of the Wilson Center for Leadership at Hampden Sydney College. His business acumen, leadership, communication expertise and distinguished involvement in public service make him an excellent candidate for U.S. Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
During Mr. McMullen’s 31-year career in public policy, politics and business, he also served as President, South Carolina Policy Council, Columbia, South Carolina (1990-2007), Development Director, Free Congress Foundation, Washington, D.C. (1987-1989) and Development Researcher, Heritage Foundation, Washington, D.C. (1986-1987).
Mr. McMullen earned a B.A. from Hampden Sydney College, Hampden Sydney, Virginia. He was awarded the South Carolina Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian honor in the State of South Carolina.
