Professional Development Fellowships
2017/2018 Application Information
The 2017/2018 Professional Development Fellowship (PDF) application season is now closed. Family members who submitted an application before the May 1st deadline will soon receive an email informing them of whether or not their application will be reviewed by the selection committee. Applicants will be informed of their results no later than August 1, 2017.
Open to spouses and partners of direct-hire U.S. government employees from all agencies serving overseas under Chief of Mission authority, the Professional Development Fellowship (PDF) program supports EFMs in their efforts to maintain, enhance, and/or develop their professional skills while overseas. Refer to the FAQs for more detailed information on eligibility and program information.
Subject to budgetary constraints, PDFs from $1,000 up to $2,500 will be offered on a reimbursable basis for enrichment activities. Selectees will self-fund a minimum of 25 percent of the activity upon which the PDF is based. Proposals may include a wide range of activities including, but not limited to, classroom and distance learning courses, professional development activities, obtaining or renewal of professional certifications and licenses, and participation in professional conferences. Selectees will be reimbursed after the 2017-2018 activity is completed. The selectee submits the necessary documents to support the reimbursement request and is reimbursed accordingly.
